All members of Clergy are welcome to officiate gatherings at the Temple, there are just a few things to know first. Note that this is for all other gatherings than Worship Services and Ethieryan Delights (previously TAD) - which have separate instructions.
Just a quick and easy reference!
Officiant: The clergy who takes the leading role in organizing and hosting gatherings.
Assistant: Any clergy who assist with the gathering.
Hourly pay: Only includes the time worked during the gathering.
Pre-Approved Gathering: Any gathering that has been hosted before and is approved to be hosted again.
SFW: Gatherings that are largely SFW. We are an adult 18+ community, so themes may still be mature, there may still be cuss words etc., but there is nothing sexually explicit, no gore, violence, etc.
Mature: Gatherings that are NSFW but not necessarily sexually explicit. They will absolutely have mature themes. The purpose of these gatherings is not to devolve into an orgy, but may still be sexual in nature.
Spicy: Gatherings that are NSFW and definitely sexually explicit.
We host many different types of gatherings, which require various levels of prep work and effort to set up.
Hosting or assisting with any of these gatherings is counted toward monthly activity, so long as the gathering has appropriate approval.
Cross Community Gatherings
This is any gathering that is a collaboration between the Temple and another RP community/venue. In the past, we have done this by providing healers at fighting matches and running booths at organized street fairs. These types of gatherings generally take considerable planning and organizing.
All cross community gatherings require leadership approval.
Pay for these gatherings:
Officiant: 500k+200k/hr
Assistants: 100k/hr
There may be more than one Officiant for these gatherings. This includes the primary individuals who prepared for the gathering, worked directly to set things up, and oversaw hosting the gathering.
Community Gatherings
This is any gathering that takes place at the Temple and is open for anyone to attend. This includes but is not limited to:
Oracle Night
Open Clinic
Lore Lessons
Parable Studies
Pay for these gatherings:
Officiant: 100k+100k/hr
Assistants: 50k/hr
See the next section for information on approval.
Congregation Gatherings
This is any gathering that is closed to only Congregation and Clergy. Typically, these gatherings are NSFW, but that does not always need to be the case.
Pay for these gatherings:
Officiant: 100k+100k/hr
Assistants: 50k/hr
See the next section for information on approval.
Clergy Gatherings
This is any gathering that is only open to Clergy - this includes gatherings that are only for the Priesthood or Hounds.
Pay for these gatherings:
Officiant: 100k+100k/hr
Assistants: 50k/hr
See the next section for information on approval.
Impromptu Gatherings
These gatherings spring up as a clergy member has time and the capacity to host a gathering. See hosting approval for more information on who can host impromptu gatherings.
Pay for these gatherings:
Officiant: 100k/hr
Assistants: 50k/hr
See the next section for information on approval.
Non-RP Gatherings
This includes things such as organized map nights, mount runs, glam runs, etc.
Pay for these gatherings:
Officiant: 50k/hr
See the next section for information on approval.
All gatherings require some level of approval, which will vary drastically depending on your history of hosting and rank within the Temple.
Cross-Community Gatherings
Please let Leadership know well in advance if you plan to host a collaborative gathering. We are careful about the communities we engage with and want to ensure that any new community aligns with our roleplay values.
All Clergy members, including Leadership, must get approval for these gatherings. The Leadership team reviews and makes decisions together before agreeing to participate.
Ideally, we ask for at least one month’s notice for these gatherings. We will not approve any with less than two weeks' notice.
Community Gatherings
Clergy members at the level of Acolyte or higher can request to host a community gathering.
Approval is needed if:
It’s your first time officiating a gathering
Or, it’s the first time you’re hosting a new/non-approved gathering
If you have already been approved to officiate community events, you can host any previously approved gatherings without needing to check in with Leadership.
Congregation Gatherings
All gatherings of this type must be coordinated with and approved by the Congregation Liaison, as they are typically NSFW in nature.
The approval process varies. If you are officiating a pre-approved gathering and have hosted similar events before, a quick check-in to make sure there are no schedule conflicts is usually enough. However, if you have never hosted an NSFW gathering or are proposing a new NSFW event, the process will be more detailed.
Hosting NSFW gatherings can be complex, and we prioritize the safety and comfort of our members.
Clergy Gatherings
Clergy members of Acolyte rank or higher can host Clergy-only gatherings.
Like community gatherings, approval is needed if:
It’s your first time hosting
Or, you’re planning to host a new or untested type of gathering
If your gathering is specific to the Priesthood or Hounds, you must reach out to the appropriate Leadership—either the Priory or the Hound Captain(s)—for discussion.
Impromptu Gatherings
Only members of the Priesthood, Hounds, or Leadership may host these gatherings.
Usually, these will be pre-approved gatherings.
However, you can seek approval for new event ideas even without a specific date. If you want to host a new type of gathering, speak with the appropriate Leadership to review and approve it. Once approved, you can host it as an impromptu gathering at any time.
Note: Impromptu Gatherings are same-day events that can be open to the whole community, congregation, or just clergy. You must give at least one hour's notice before the gathering starts and post an invitation in the appropriate channel(s) for it to count. Private RPs or games not open to others do not qualify as Impromptu Gatherings.
Non-RP Gatherings
These gatherings are a low priority, and we prefer not to over-schedule non-RP events. Ideally, we aim for no more than two per month. If the number of non-RP gatherings exceeds the number of RP gatherings, additional non-RP gatherings are unlikely to be approved.
In general, anyone can host this type of gathering with minimal approval, and they can be open to the entire community, congregation, or just clergy.
If you are officiating a non-RP gathering that involves obtaining loot, be sure to provide CLEAR instructions on how loot will be managed during the event.
The vibe: This is very important. Gatherings should be RP-appropriate for the Temple.
IC preference: We strongly prefer in-character (IC) gatherings, but out-of-character (OOC) gatherings related to learning and relevant to the Temple may be allowed, as well as content focused Non-RP Gatherings.
Event "spice" level: We aim to protect our lala members while ensuring they don't feel excluded. For this reason, Spicy events must be limited to the Congregation and/or Clergy only, with the exception of ED.
Scheduling conflicts: Always check for scheduling conflicts, even if gatherings aren’t officially posted on the calendar. We can’t host multiple events at the Temple at the same time.
To have your gathering approved, please send the following information to the appropriate leadership.
Gathering name:
Gathering type: (Cross-community, Community, Congregation, Clergy, Impromptu)
Level of Spice: (SFW, Mature, Spicy)
Date:
Time:
Expected duration:
Location:
Assistance needed: (Attendants, prizes, etc.)
Brief description:
You do not need to include the date and time for an impromptu gathering - but you can get the idea approved ahead of time so that you can host it when you are able!
This is also the Template that you will need to post to the monthly gathering planning thread.
Who are the appropriate leadership?
For the sake of not needing to update this too regularly, we will go by titles rather than names.
Hound Captain: Approves all Hound related gatherings
Prior/ess: Approves all Priesthood related gatherings
Congregation Liaison: Approves all Congregation related gatherings
High Priestess: Approves all Non-Congregation oriented NSFW gatherings and Cross-Community Gatherings
Event Coordinator: Approves all other gatherings
When you officiate a gathering, you MUST report it here.
If you do not report your gathering, you and anyone who assisted during your gathering will not receive pay and it will not be counted toward your activity for the month.
When officiating a gathering, keep track of the following information:
Gathering Name
Gathering Type
Date, Time & Duration of the gathering
List of Clergy who assisted
There is also an optional field to enter notes. Notes may include whether or not you felt the gathering went well, the level of attendance, how to improve such gatherings in the future, and the names of any who assisted you as a co-host rather than an assistant.
Reports are reviewed once a month. For pay and activity.
Pay is calculated and added to our list of back pay owed. Any member of Leadership with access to the FC banks can pay those listed on the back pay log.
At the time that reports are reviewed, those who officiated gatherings are placed into a raffle.
ALL gatherings require varying levels of advertising.
For any gathering that is not impromptu, we highly suggest having the event approved a minimum of 1 week prior to hosting. This gives us time to list it on our discord events, website calendar, and to gain support if additional advertising is required.
In regards to advertising, you must provide the following:
Name of the Gathering
Date & Time of the Gathering
Anticipated Duration of the Gathering
The level of spice
Who the gathering is for
If it is a Congregation or Clergy only gathering, indicate whether or not a +1 is welcome
A brief description of what to expect while hosting this gathering
If you need assistance with an ad image or post, you must make such requests a minimum of 1 week prior to the gathering.
Other tips and considerations:
It is best to advertise 1 week before the gathering date, with a reminder the day before, and day of.
If you do not have access to the proper announcement channels, coordinate with members of Leadership to have your gathering ad posted.
Have your ad pre-written! Do not ask for an ad to be posted and expect it to be written for you.
Remember - be detailed but not overwhelming! Interested parties need to know where to go, when to go, and a general idea of what to expect. If the ad is too long, some will not read it.
Do not wait until the last minute to advertise or ask for help advertising! If you wait too long, Leadership may not be able to accommodate or assist such requests.
Keep in mind that word of mouth is the best form of advertising. Talk about your event. Seek out others directly to help you. Bring it up IC when/if possible. Invite others while RPing. BUT do not be obnoxious about it. Do not disrupt on going discussions or RP to talk about your gathering.
